Blue and Gold Banquet

BSA troop 324 here at Patch Barracks hosted their annual Blue and Gold banquet 25 Feb. It was my first Blue and Gold banquet, so I'm not sure what was tradition or new. One thing for sure though was that the boys ate it up!

First, Mr. Larry knighted all the squires from Daniel's bear pack. After which they boys led a procession around the "royal court" with their protected princesses. :)

The dinner that followed was a grand potluck, after which we were able to enjoy beautiful and wonderfully crafted castle cakes in the midst of midevil-themed table decorations.

The remainder of the banquet was filled with presentations, and a few other ceremonies.

One ceremony was the application of the Bear Rank war paint. Daniel was especially happy to get marked up like a little Indian!

Boy Scout Lock-in

The local troop sponsored a lock in with the boy scouts where they also invited the Webelos to join them as a part of the transition to Boy Scouts. Matthew was excited to be in the mix with the bigger boys. There was two main events for the evening, climbing on the rock wall and dodgeball! The air was just dripping with young testosterone!

Scouting in the Black Forest

A new activity we started with the boys this year is Boy Scouts. I am glad to say that both Matthew and Daniel are loving it! It works out well since much of the merit activities can be a part of our homeschool cirricula too, so they are having fun while learning! The campsite turns out to be only about 8 km from the house here. As a part of the "Cub-a-ree" they got to shoot BB guns, try out archery, do some leaterhwork, review some astronomy, and their favorite, rock climbing!
